“THE NEW RAY ROBINSON”

A FRESH FOCUS ORIGINAL FILM

It’s nothing short of a miracle where @thenewrayrobinson is today.

In 2016 we produced a feature documentary on professional boxer, Ray Robinson, who just so happens to share the name with the greatest boxer who ever lived, but that’s not what makes his story extraordinary.

Ray grew up in homeless shelters in Philadelphia, he had an abusive father that broke his legs as a toddler by throwing him down stairs, a mother hooked on drugs for his adolescence, and he even broke his neck at the age of 13 while sparring. Ray has persevered through it all and stands with a smile on his face whenever you see him. Ray is a success story, plain and simple, without boxing ever coming into the picture and thats what compelled us to tell his story.

Last week, we filmed Ray for the first time since the documentary, previewing his upcoming fight on March 30th on ESPN+. Ray is facing the top welterweight contender, Egidijus “Mean Machine” Kavaliauskas, an opportunity Ray is thrilled about. Ray also has a new son , Kingston, who you can tell it’s obsessed with his dad’s passion of boxing.
