OPEN BOOK

Fresh Focus Sports produced a feature documentary titled ‘Open Book’ released in September 2025 and accumulated over 700k views in a few months. The documentary was filmed, edited and produced completely independent by Fresh Focus.

the main character, Book Richardson, (LEFT) was the first college coach to ever go to prison for paying athletes before NIL was installed.

Below is a gallery of production shots from the journey of filming this doc over a 5 year period. The doc follows Book 6 months out of prison and shows him still having a positive impact on inner city New York City kids, even after being dealt an unfair hand.

In 2009, in association with Hard 2 Guard Productions, Fresh Focus Sports independently produced ‘The Blackout’.  A documentary focusing on the famed, Rucker Park and its legendary 2003 season with Jay Z and Fat Joe.  The film has been viewed close to 10 million times, initially 2 million people watched it when it was unofficially released on WorldStarHipHop in 2009.  Since then it has been viewed millions of times on Youtube and premiered in New York on the Madison Square Garden Network in 2014. And now after over a decade of making short form content on its platforms, Fresh Focus Sports is in production on an ‘Open Book’, a documentary on Book Richardson, who was apart of an FBI raid on college basketball back in 2017.
